After a year of planning, thrifting, illustrating, creating, thinking out ideas, shopping, searching and tasting, the big moment happened. We said 'I do', exchanged rings, we kissed and we were declared husband and wife.. such a surreal moment on our very real day. Because it's the moment it is all about, but nothing really changed. On paper it did, but our life, our relationship, our love didn't change. Well, that's not really true, we did acted different for a few weeks. Crazy giggly and in love, like we were teenagers ;)
Now, 4 months after the wedding, we are getting used to saying 'my husband/wife', which sounds okay, but in Dutch.. 'mijn man/vrouw'.. it sounds a bit old and dull. So most of the time we just use Stefan/Anne :)
Back to 4 months ago!! (start your engine Doc!) We will dive right into the champagne moment! There are some very pretty cakes involved, so follow me! Yes, that is a squirrel on top of our beautiful forest fruit wedding cake. And yes, that is a dinosaur next to it. Can you think of better caketoppers? ...yeah, thought so.
All the thrifted serving dishes, my old vintage cake 'turntable' (as seen under the carrot cake), the mix-match plates, everything was a feast for the eyes! I found the fabric with the leaves&birds at our local market! I bought a few yards without knowing what to use it for but it turned out the be the most perfect fit for this table filled with sweet&pretty goodness! The cakes were spectacular, and gone within a blink of the eye. Everyone had two or three pieces.. or a slice of every cake, there was a complete (sugar) rush going on ;) This gorgeous thing is a baklava cake! I LOVE baklava, so I made a special request and our caterers made me so happy by creating this super cool cake! It was delicious and it looks freaking awesome! (..and trust me, dinosaurs are the next big thing!) My father-in-law admiring our rings.. and me showing off my personalized bracelet, which I put on with the text ('live mighty', after the lyrics of Jason Mrazs song Living in the moment) facing down because the ends were getting stuck in my dress. Whoops :) Yes, we did a cake-cutting moment.. I was very much against the whole 'let's feed each other' thing, because I have super clumsy moments and I was convinced I would get cake all over my dress. Of course, peer pressure made me do it anyway. On the video I look like a baby bird, because my mouth is wide open, but nothing fell down so it worked ;) Stefans cousin, our little Red Riding Hood.. To thank our witnesses and my 'best girls', we gave them personal gifts. Bracelets with different texts for the girls, Puur Anders leaves with a picture from our loveshoot for my dad and Stefans mom and Opinel pocket knifes with a burned in message for Stefans best man and dad. See credits at the end of the post! :) Groupshot time! We did a lot of family pictures, because we never really get together like this. Almost everyone was there, even our family from Switzerland, so we seized the moment. This is Stefans other cousin, probably wondering why Danique was taking her picture :) All of our dayguests! There were more sweet friends at the party, but our camera team wasn't around all night. We still want to thank every single one of you for coming and making our day the best ever!
And a special shout out to the girls&men in the 'bachelor gang' pictures below and to the people missing in these pictures! We had super fun bachelor party's because of you, thanks a million! By the time Danique&Bart took these last pictures dinner was ready.. If you think you have seen enough pretty things and goodlooking food, just wait for my next wedding blogpost! This dinner was a homerun! *total teaser*
