Ready for some Autumn goodness? I just got the photos of Ianthe&David’s October wedding by the ever amazing Hanke Arkenbout (who doesn’t shoot weddings anymore, but you can book her for all your family/friend/love/portrait shoots and she is THE BEST so no regrets if you do. Just saying.) Anyway, I couldn't wait to share these so I made a blogpost right away. Trust me, I’m as surprised as you are haha!
Dive in and enjoy! :)
When bride Ianthe told me she loves sunflowers I knew this wedding would be a challenge. Sunflowers are hard to design with because of their straight stems, bright yellow petals and dark heart. The contrast in this flower is big which makes it’s hard to blend it and get a classy look in stead of cheap grocery store vibes.
But the ridiculous warm Autumn months were a blessing in disguise because the flower garden had heaps of tiny sunflowers (look a likes) that are easier to work with. The delicate baby versions were exactly what I needed for my dried hop ceremony backdrop. 100% foam-free!
We created green garlands for the tables that were quick and easy to install because there was only 1 hour set up time. The shortest ever, but we were on a roll and even had time for photos! Well, a few.. because we had to drive through the city centre (Utrecht) to the party venue to set up over there. And then, after barely 2 hours, back to the ceremony/dinner space for the break down. The life of a wedding stylist/florist isn’t as romantic as it may seem, haha!
But to stand in that beautiful wooden mill, watching our work and hearing all the ‘WOW’s’ as the guests walked in.. that moment is always worth the running, stress (what do you mean it’s not the best idea to make personalised napkins 2 days before the event?) and 12 hour workdays ♥
Also: those petrol coloured napkins fitted the stationery like a glove and complete this table, so no judging!
I probably have said it a million times and more.. but Autumn weddings are the best! The colors, the materials, the foliage, the light.. everything about this season makes me want to create.
That said, I have a few spots for weddings 2019 left! My calendar is filling up quickly though (July/August are pretty much booked full), so send me a message if you want styling&floral magic for your day! Talk to you soon :)
