Gegarandeerd schitterende foto's!

10. Drie keer is scheepsrecht ;)

Nóg meer tafel inspiratie? Jazeker!

a midsummer night's dream: sprookjesbruiloft 2.0

Tinywater Photographyenchanted forest wedding - photo by Alison Conklin

⋅⋅⋅ What angel wakes me from my flowery bed? ⋅⋅⋅

Midzomernacht komt eraan.

outdoor weddings, sunny days

forest wedding - styling by Anne van Midden/Inspire StylingWhen you plan your wedding, the big question always is: What will the weather be like? Especially if you have your mind set on an outdoor wedding, like most of my couples, it can be quite tricky. Although you should always opt for a plan B (hire a tent, go for a nature-like venue like a greenhouse or a barn), a lot of luck can do the trick.

Wedding season has started and until now, mother nature has been on our side! I have had two outdoor weddings, last week and the week before. Two weeks ago I set up this beautiful ceremony arch in a forest for sweet Hylkje&Sander, they got married after being together for 16 years. The day before and after was grey, rainy and horrible but Saturday the sun came out and everything was perfect!

Their wedding day was filled with family, love, personal touches, DIY projects and lots of lace. I saw a tiny preview of the photos Hanke Arkenbout made and let me tell you: They are gorgeous! (cliffhanger, sorry guys!)Kinfolk style wedding in a greenhouse - styling by Anne van Midden/Inspire Styling Last Thursday me and my assistant for two days Joëlle de Visser drove up to Groningen, for a Kinfolk style wedding on a beautiful location. We set up the ceremony on the waterside, with pollard willows as a natural backdrop. Cocktail hour looked like a high tea party in an English garden, the guests were walking around barefoot in a field filled with daisies. And dinner was served in a greenhouse covered with grape vines. So beautiful! Kinfolk style wedding in a greenhouse - styling by Anne van Midden/Inspire StylingKinfolk style wedding in a greenhouse - styling by Anne van Midden/Inspire Styling I hand-lettered all the 'Bon Appétit!' cards and the signs for the cake table. These personal elements are the perfect finishing touch for your tabletop. A great way to add a little extra or to say thank you to your guests. The eucalyptus branches are always a winner, they smell great, I can prep them the day before the wedding, as they stay in shape forever* and they are a match made in heaven for this Italian style set up.

*unless you are setting everything up in a greenhouse on the first tropical day of the year (in the Netherlands 30° degrees is a LOT), because the heat flattened them out. The candles melted too, so next time I will go for a more last minute approach. You live and learn ;) Kinfolk style wedding - styling by Anne van Midden/Inspire Styling Trust me, moving around heavy furniture and tree trunks is not something you want to do with this kind of weather. But a lot of water and a short break every now and then was all we needed to create a dream set-up for cuties Liza&Martin! Their entire wedding looked absolutely stunning (patting myself&Joëlle on the back now) and so did they! I can't wait to see the pictures Rox&San made and to show you more, like the ceremony, the super adorable ring bearer and of course the happy couple!!

See you soon! ♥ Anne

rock your wedding: 11x kristallen op je bruiloft

photo by love is a big dealplacecards, photo by Love is a Big Deal

Raw Crystal Necklaces - Layered and Long - Etsy raw crystal necklaces, photo by Layered and Long, via Etsy

Rock your wedding: 11 ideeën voor kristallen op jouw bruiloft

Me Do Photography painters palette wedding, photo by Love Me Do Photography

Photography Jonas Peterson pink Jenny Packham dress, photo by Jonas Peterson

6. Bling bling jurk? Move over Assepoester!

Je weet maar nooit :) (geloof me, ik spreek uit ervaring)wedding cake with amethyst details - photo by Taylor Lord wedding cake with amethysts, photo by Taylor Lord

Leanne and Dave - photo by Lara Hotz Leanne and Dave, photo by Lara Hotz

Fijn weekend! ♥ Anne

goodbye to a magical year

It's almost 2015, time to look back at this year. It has been one hell of a ride! When 2014 started I just celebrated my company’s first birthday and still felt like a total rookie, business wise. I had to figure out what my ‘USP’ was, where in this giant pool of creatives I belong. I also jumped into this year with an engagement ring around my finger, making all kinds of plans with my love. One of them was my idea to illustrate my own wedding stationery. A lot of new things filled up my to do list and it felt a bit wobbly at first.

But then came the lazy Sunday shoot I did with Hanke Arkenbout, on the day we first met. (seriously: “Hi, I’m Anne.. this is my giant backpack with props”) The shoot turned out so good, I felt more confident I was on the right track. After that great start, the year flew by! I will show you my highlights, in tiny squares that represent each season. Let's start with spring! my year in squares - spring 2014 | Inspire Styling journal I spend most of my free time working like a crazy hermit on our save the dates and invitations. With every flower I painted I got happier.. and closer to a wrist injury (still handling that one). Totally worth it. In the weekends Stefan and I loaded up our firevan with all kinds of vintage tableware for the wedding. Total prepping-mode, we were on the roll! ;)

On a cold rainy day I created a gorgeous lookbook for Puur Anders, starring my sweet friend Margriet (looking stunning with ivy ranks all over her body) and photographed by Danique van Kesteren. When I downloaded the pictures I knew.. My USP is my love for nature. It is my neverending source of inspiration and a red thread in my best work. Nature, details and authenticity, that pretty much sums up what my work is (and what I am!) all about. I guess I found my place in the pool this year.

That month I spend more time with Danique, since we also had our engagement shoot our beautiful hometown. I never really shared the pictures, I should do that in 2015.. for those French fries alone! ;) my year in squares - summer 2014 | Inspire Styling journal And then summer finally came. Besides all the wedding stuff I made a lot of moodboards&sketches and searched for the most perfect furniture for a backstage room at Doornroosje Nijmegen. I met a lot of people online and found out that they all are even lovelier offline. I got the hang of Instagram, gave my website a little makeover and listened to Hankes tips about photography.

The times we weren’t thrifting or working, Stefan and I had our own little adventures. Picking blackberries, beachcombing, running into dreamy flowery fields, gazing at sunsets in Soestduinen, wandering in the woods.. or just strolling through Amersfoort.

But the biggest adventure we ever had was getting married! On the 28th of June we said our I do’s under the trees. It was the most amazing day, filled with family&friends, flowers, good food (thank you Femke&Eddy), homemade details, thrifted treasures, helping hands, magical moments and a lot of love!!  bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling So yeah, the first half of 2014 was pretty amazing! Tomorrow I will let you know if the second half can measure up.. :)

wedding in the woods - into the night (+video!)

bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling WeddingsI can't believe this is my last wedding post! A bit sad, but I will end with a BANG!! I have some really gorgeous evening shoot photos for you, a few party pictures and of course the wedding video!

I will continue the story where I ended it the last time, just after dinner. While our guests were enjoying those delicious cookies and coffee, we walked back into the forest to do a little evening shoot. Because of all the love and joy, we couldn't act like normal people. (and because we suck at being normal people) We ended up giggling, laughing and acting like teenagers. Being newlywed is just too much fun! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings At my final dress fitting I realized the gown was too fancy to dress like my usual boho self. Untill that day I was looking for a knitted cardigan to wear in the evening. I also made a hairpiece out of an old (gold leaves) necklace, but it felt a bit crafty. I wasn't super happy when I saw myself in the mirror and started a speed-search to find a more fitted jacket and an elegant hairpiece. Best decision I made! Although I regret not wearing a knitted piece on my wedding day (I live in knitwear), this white wool-look a like cardigan was a good find and that hairpiece... oooh my! I am in love with my golden leaves hairpiece by Avigail Adam. It is so gorgeous, delicate and just perfect for me, my dress and my day. Very elegant, not crafty at all! And I was still my boho self, walking through the woods with pinecones and twigs in my dress ;)

The necklace below was made by Layered and Long, also via Etsy. My sister gave it to me, although I selected it myself to make sure it matched my dress :) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings This is our favorite picture of us, you can see the joy and love we felt that day. Happiness! :) ♥ bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings At the time, the wedding ring felt so awkward, I am not used to wearing rings. Except for my engagement ring, but I had to get used to that one too! And now, after 4 months, sometimes it still feels weird to wear two rings. I guess in a few years I won't even remember what it was like nót to wear them. I wouldn't want to miss them for the world! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods - handmade ceremony backdrop | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings Stefan decorated these willow branches for our ceremony backdrop by burning in little drawings. It took forever, but it looks so incredibly good! He made two 'totems', one for each of us, with drawings saying something about me, like some highlights of my hometown Amersfoort, cute patterns, the initials of my family, leaves, flowers, birds and so much more cool things! You can find something new every time. On his 'totem' are the initials of his family, drawings of the ocean, a turtle, important dates, a bat and other things typically for him.

We had to break down the arch and take it home in pieces. (someone crazy even suggested we could burn it all! :S) The two totem branches are in our living room now. To be treasured and definitely NOT to be burned to ashes ;) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | campfire decoration, vintage blankets | photography by 88forever | Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods - campfire | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods - campfire | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods - campfire, marshmallow roasting | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings It is a good thing we did a shoot by the campfire, because that is were we actually spend the entire night. We both usually feel awkward at parties and aren't the best dancers, but we did create a 5 hour playlist on Spotify! A super awesome 80/90's mix, with everything from Pearl Jam to Spice Girls and back, because it was our wedding day and you want a kick-ass party on your wedding day! Sadly too much people left early, so our party area felt huge and empty. We laughed so hard at ourselves and tried our best, but it just wasn't meant to be. After a hour or so, we turned the music down and continued the party at the campfire. We dragged all the beer and wine we could find outside, served french fries in the middle of the night, laughed, talked, said things we don't remember (go booze!) and enjoyed the company of our sweet friends and family untill early in the morning.

It was a kick-ass party, just not at the dancefloor. It was more us, we didn't feel awkward at all and looking back, some of the best memories are from that night. The fries still come up every time people talk about our wedding :) Best night ever! bohemian wedding in the woods - rsvp cards&memories photowall | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings Speaking of memories.. we created this memory photowall in the hallway. We printed out a huge pile of photos of us, from the day we were born untill the bachelor parties. On our RSVP cards, we asked our guests to fill in their favorite memory with (one of) us and we tried to match these cards with photos. It didn't work for every card, but almost everyone was on our wall, which was great! There were a lot of guests looking at pictures that evening, laughing about crazy moments and photos. A cool way to look back! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Styling by Inspire Styling Weddings My sweet friend Marloes de Vries handlettered the text for this banner, I illustrated the leaves and did the lay-out. Danique shot this on her way home. But don't worry.. I still have the beautiful video Jamy from Life from the Inside made! He did such an amazing job on this film! It captures the mood of our day perfectly and all our precious moments are in it. He walked the extra mile for us and was really excited about this himself, which is even better! We will cherish this video forever, it is a great story about a great day. Thank you so much Jamy, you made us very very very happy with this!

Our vows are in Dutch, but after a few minutes there is just music. But let me tell you, this film is beautiful enough to watch on mute! (don't do that though, music is better ;) ) Click the 'full screen' option and ENJOY!!

Finally, we want to thank our amazing photographers too! Danique&Bart, you captured so much emotional, funny, loving and beautiful moments. And you made my styling look even better than I could imagine.. the flowers, plates and the littlest details. All the pictures are in our hearts and we are proud you guys were such an important part of our day. Thank you!

That's it. The final post about our wedding. Thank you for reading along, please stick around for my 'regular life' posts and feel free to comment below!

And we lived happily ever after... :)

something new at Engaged 2014

Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingSometimes you have to try new things. Last year visiting Engaged with my fiancé was one of those things. We were a bit sceptic, because wedding fairs/events can be a bit dull and not really original. But we had to change our minds because of Engaged. It is the coolest wedding event in the Netherlands, with a lot of creative and stylish vendors that understand the beauty of a bohemian/vintage/outdoor wedding. We spoke to a lot of talented people last year and got some interesting contacts out of it. It was a great day, nothing to be sceptic about!

This year, my colleague/videographer Jamy (Life from the Inside) tried something new: Enter as a vendor for Engaged 2014!  He asked me to design&style his stand and we ended up in a cool co-op stand together. We promoted each other with flyers, stories and of course with our wedding video.. which played on loop all day, so I saw it about 50 times ;) Jamy and I made a great team, I am really happy he asked my help and love how 'our' stand looked! Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingEngaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire Styling The theme for Engaged was 'winter wonderland', but without the polarbears and fake snow ;) The theme worked out great! There were string lights, wooden blocks and rustic settings all over the event.

My concept for Jamy's stand was to really bring out a vintage, bohemian style, with a masculine touch. No pink or pastel for us, but a warm, forest cabin feel with plaid blankets, wooden furniture and glowing gold accents. It was the perfect match between both of our styles and the theme for the event. It was our little living room, so everyone could sit and watch Jamy's work feeling comfortable and welcome! Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingEngaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingEngaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire Styling We had so much fun all day with our 'neighbors': Eva from La Nou Nou and Jasper from SayKaas! Then again, all the vendors were super sweet and talented and it was really nice to meet the people behind the hashtags! ;) Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire Styling Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingEngaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire StylingEngaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire Styling Engaged 2014 - Life from the Inside | Styling by Inspire Styling I am proud of our stand, all the accessoires fitted right in and the chalkboard turned out really cool! And most important, Jamy was very excited about what I did :) If you are interested in a custom made design for a stand or interior, feel free to contact me!

We can look back at an amazing Engaged weekend! We had fun setting everything up the day before, talked to a lot of interesting people, made some couples very happy with our ideas and thoughts about their plans and went home feeling satisfied (and tired!).

It was a great day, thanks to Judith&Boaz for organising it all and taking care of all the vendors. We'll see you next year! :)

And above all, thank you to all the visitors!! You were the best!

wedding in the woods - stationery

bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | illustration by Inspire Styling WeddingsBefore I share the last part of our wedding in the woods.. a small post about the stationery! I know I have shown it before, but it looks so much better when Danique is in control of the camera ;)

When I decided to illustrate the save the dates myself I didn't think the list of handdrawn pieces would end up like this: save the date, invitation, rsvp, route, enveloppe lining, personalized stamps and stickers, menu cards, leaves on the banner at the party, illustrations in our 'Amersfoort tour' booklet/giveaway and the cover of a (last minute) handmade guestbook. But I created every single thing and I am more than proud I did! I had to wipe dust off my watercolor paintbox, spend a crazy amount of hours drawing leaves and flowers, ignore a few doubts.. but I did it and I would do it again in a heartbeat!! Every piece looks so incredibly good! It set the tone for the rest of the wedding and inspired our guests to create some amazing cards and gifts for us.

Oh.. and I haven't put away my watercolors since! :) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | illustration by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | illustration by Inspire Styling Weddingsbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | illustration by Inspire Styling Weddings Curious about our give away? It isn't in any of the pictures, but I can share the PDF file with you: Tour de Anne&Stefan - Amersfoort.

Our personal give away was a booklet with tips for visiting Amersfoort, Anne&Stefan style. We created a route based on our memories here and our favorite places to hang out. Expect a lot of tiny streets, green bits and good food. The texts are all Dutch, but there are plenty of photos (and an illustrated map) for the rest of you. Please feel free to read it, but please do not print or use it without my permission!

wedding in the woods - glorious food

This weekend was all about Engaged, a really cool wedding event in Delft. Our videographer Jamy (Life from the Inside) asked me to design&style his stand for this. Besides making it all look good, I helped him out on the event day. And of course I was there to tell visitors all about my wedding styling, illustration and rental options. It was a great day! I will write a blog about it this week :) In this new part of my wedding in the woods post you can see a lot of my styling and rental items! All our thrifted plates, glasses, the lights, candlestick holders and pretty much everything you see is part of my own collection. I remember us sitting in this gorgeous decorated room, with all our guests at the tables around us, beautiful looking food, plates, wine, candles and flowers on the table, everybody chatting away with people they just met, and us feeling so happy because everything turned out like we hoped! The food was great, I don't think our friends&family ever ate that much. My mother-in-law even tried something of every dish, which was pretty much impossible because the caterers kept putting new dishes on the table.

It was like magic: The never-ending dinner!

My dad is a writer, so I expected him to do something, but my sisters speech was a sweet surprise. She tried to do it with my brother, but speaking in front of a crowd isn't really his thing. Our best man still laughs about how his first talk to her at our wedding: "So, how do you know Anne?" "Well, we met like two months ago". But like most things, it's not about quantity.. :)

The pictures below look like it was a fall wedding, which we might have had if our day wasn't the 28th of June. I would love to work on a real fall wedding! wedding in the woods - cakes&champagne

bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire StylingAfter a year of planning, thrifting, illustrating, creating, thinking out ideas, shopping, searching and tasting, the big moment happened. We said 'I do', exchanged rings, we kissed and we were declared husband and wife.. such a surreal moment on our very real day. Because it's the moment it is all about, but nothing really changed. On paper it did, but our life, our relationship, our love didn't change. Well, that's not really true, we did acted different for a few weeks. Crazy giggly and in love, like we were teenagers ;)

Now, 4 months after the wedding, we are getting used to saying 'my husband/wife', which sounds okay, but in Dutch.. 'mijn man/vrouw'.. it sounds a bit old and dull. So most of the time we just use Stefan/Anne :)

Back to 4 months ago!! (start your engine Doc!) We will dive right into the champagne moment! There are some very pretty cakes involved, so follow me! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Yes, that is a squirrel on top of our beautiful forest fruit wedding cake. And yes, that is a dinosaur next to it. Can you think of better caketoppers? ...yeah, thought so.

All the thrifted serving dishes, my old vintage cake 'turntable' (as seen under the carrot cake), the mix-match plates, everything was a feast for the eyes! I found the fabric with the leaves&birds at our local market! I bought a few yards without knowing what to use it for but it turned out the be the most perfect fit for this table filled with sweet&pretty goodness! The cakes were spectacular, and gone within a blink of the eye. Everyone had two or three pieces.. or a slice of every cake, there was a complete (sugar) rush going on ;) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling This gorgeous thing is a baklava cake! I was very much against the whole 'let's feed each other' thing, because I have super clumsy moments and I was convinced I would get cake all over my dress. wedding in the woods - ceremony

Okay, so you know what we did the months, weeks, days, hours and even minutes before the first look. You've seen the both of us cry when we saw each other for the first time.. now it's time to really step into our wedding day! First up, the ceremony.. Again, a lot of tears here, you can spot us either crying or laughing. We don't really do neutral ;)bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling When we started planning we hoped for a wedding in the woods. Not just a party or dinner in the woods, but the full wedding. We scouted the forest around the venue for pretty spots a few months before our big day, early spring. This little 'valley' was the most perfect place, so beautiful! :)  We also made sure our officiant could marry us outside, Stefan made a beautiful, personalized ceremony backdrop, on the morning of our weddingday our little team moved some chairs around, our best friend plugged in our favorite music...

Well actually, there wasn't an aisle, but we did walk down! Down a sandy hill, where a few twigs, pinecones and leaves got caught in my dress again. We wanted a wedding in the woods, that's what we've got! ;) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling I love this shot, it's one of my favorites :) And look at Stefans awesome socks! Our best man was really the best, he even brought tissues and shared those with the entire crowd. Thank you Maarten! :)

Stefan and I are definitely on the same page, we both talked about how we love nature (hence the forest wedding) and how we met (me being direct and well, a little drunk, him being stand-offish and a bit shy), we talked about the adventures we want to have together, about travelling with our firevan and how we balance each other perfectly. Our vows even matched so perfectly, our videographer Jamy jumped from me talking to Stefan talking in the video, without weird transitions in the story. Flawless :)

I will share the video in the last post of our wedding in the woods series, as a big bonus! It deserves to be the big fat cherry on top of it all :) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling The 'I DO' moment! wedding in the woods - getting ready

Yesterday we celebrated our 3 month wedding anniversary! I can't believe it has been 3 months already since I saw Stefan in his suit for the first time, it still feels like it was yesterday. You have been waiting for this post for the same 3 months now and now it's time for you to read the full story and look at a LOT of pictures! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire StylingMy first post (yes, there will be more.. :) ) is all about the getting ready on our big day, the 28th of June. This is really 'our' day, we got together on 28-06-06, so on our wedding day we also celebrated our 8 year anniversary.

Most of the decorating was done on Friday, the day before our wedding. And of course, a lot of work was done by me and Stefan in the year before that. We thrifted all the vintage tableware, blankets&props, driving around with our firevan. I illustrated the save the dates, invitations, rsvp cards and other stationery pieces. Stefan built a ceremony backdrop with branches from our garden, he stripped and burned drawings into them, to make them personal. We cut a pile of fabrics into garlands, put together a 5h music list on Spotify (which we didn't really use because we sat down at the campfire all night!), searched for lights, pompoms, decoration and or course, the perfect venue, team, dress, suit and accessoires. Everything about our wedding was planned and designed by us and realized by us, our dreamteam, friends and family. They all helped to create a magical wedding weekend and for that, we are so grateful and feel so loved!

Amazing Danique, Bart, Jamy, Femke&Eddy, you were the best vendors we could have wished for. And more than that! Thank you for everything you did, we couldn't have done it without you! <3bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Doesn't our firevan looks cute? My friend Margriet made this cool illustration before our guests arrived. She was quite the busy bee, helping me with getting ready, working on the final details for the tablesetting (aka cutting twigs from a tree), doing my sister's hair and make-up, and the make-up for our friend Anne. And who knows what more! Everybody worked their butts off that morning, we had to promise we would never do this again! bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Sweet Femke from Hééérlijk made my bridal bouquet. She actually thought I was taking care of that, while I was thinking she would do it. I texted her from the car Friday night, on our way home and found out there weren't enough flowers for my bouquet. So we stopped at a flowery field and starting collecting daisies and other wild flowers in the middle of the night. And Stefan bought some extra flowers at the market on Saturday morning. No stress at all, because I trusted Femke, she knew exactly what I liked and made an amazing bouquet!! Freestyle :)bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling I enjoyed the preperations for our wedding, I loved illustrating again, searching for all that vintage tableware&props, but it was quite a stressful time too. And I couldn't have done it all without the support of the love of my life. Thank you for putting up with me, helping me, giving feedback on my designs, being patient at thriftstores and comforting me when I thought I would NEVER find a wedding dress! :)

I did find that dress though, a beautiful Pronovias dress with embroidered leaves. It feels vintage and has love for nature written all over it! It wasn't love at first sight, because the kranky sales lady commented: "Oh, this colour does nothing for you" and walked away instantly to search for a new dress to try on. But after she left I listened to myself and I slowly starting loving this dress. And I couldn't think of a more perfect dress for me and for our day. So I bought it :) Most expensive and best thing I ever bought! Oh and I requested for a different sales lady for the first&final fitting, she was super nice and friendly :) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling As mentioned in a earlier blogpost, we were supposed to write our vows the week before the wedding. But we didn't have the time then, so Stefan wrote his sweet vows the night before. I tried too write them, but I was too stressed out, I felt ill/feverish and lost my voice because of that, I just couldn't focus on writing something cohesive. Not having any vows made me panic even more, so I didn't sleep at all that night. I woke up Stefan somewhere early in the morning, he was the sweetest, trying to calm me down and comforting me. I still couldn't sleep, but I felt more relaxed.

Saturday morning I still sounded like a squeeking mouse, but I felt better when our good friends Maarten&Lizette picked me up at the hairdresser. They just said 'wow' when they saw me with my hair and make-up done. After we arrived at our venue, I locked myself in my friends room and wrote my vows without stopping even once. And finally I felt like everything would be just right. After all, what's a better way to find peace than sitting silently a beautiful forest, while your best friends are realizing your dream day? :) bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Look at my gorgeous man! He picked his suit with his parents&best friend Maarten and they choose a great one! I ordered the cuff links without knowing what Stefan would wear, but I made sure they matched my outfit. But yay, they looked great with his suit too! I had Margriet deliver my little present to Stefan, because we weren't supposed to see each other untill the first look. We could hear each other though, he was only a few doors away. Ohhhh, the nerves!!    bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Stylingbohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Isn't the dress to die for? At least, that's what I think. I love how it's flowy, transparant, detailed, subtle and well, just beautiful! I had a few tiny alterations done and they turned out great (like cutting off the butterfly sleeves and lowering the neckline of the slip dress).

My mother in law and friends Margriet and Anne were by my side when I was getting ready, all crying happy tears. I felt so special and emotional, also because I still didn't know what my future husband looked like and what he would think of my dress and how I looked.. bohemian wedding in the woods | photo by 88forever | Inspire Styling Sorry guys, this is it for now.. Next post: the first look!! :) <3

wedding in the woods - the making of :)

YES!!! I'm back! I married my best friend on the 28th of June and we slowly came down from our little heaven on a cloud and returned to reality. It was such a beautiful day, the sun even came out while the forecast was all about rain, hail, storm and thunder. My mother-in-law said: "I think you guys had some spare Angels". I want to believe that what you give is what you get and we have been pretty nice to Mother Nature.. :) We have to wait a few weeks for the photos from Danique&second shooter Bart (OAK&FIR) and the film from our videographer Jamy (Life from the Inside), but we did get little previews from our amazing team. Like this stunning picture from Danique! :)

Want to see more? Check out #AnneStefan2014 on Instagram! (There's a instapreview film too!!)

Our day was everything we hoped and more! You can plan everything you know, you can make the prettiest decorations, search for the most perfect tableware and order the best food in the world.. but you can't plan how your guests will be, if they will have a good time and will be able to relax. But it turns out we had the best guests ever! We ended our day by eating fries at the campfire in the middle of the night, wishing the day would never end (at least, that's what I did). Everyone was relaxed, happy and enjoyed our day.

And now it's back to work, e-mails, blogposts and to do lists. But before I return to normal life completely, I want to share some 'behind the scenes' pictures of our wedding. We worked on it for a year and we had a lot of help from our friends in the last month, so I think it's only right to share some of the work that went into our big day! :) ♥

wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-1wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-6wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-7wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-3wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-17 We went to a LOT of thrift stores the past year, to buy all kinds of tableware for our wedding. Stefan and I collected just over 21 moving boxes full of candlestick holders, blankets, props and vintage, patterned tableware, to avoid boring white plates or something that just wasn't us. And we are quite lucky people, to have friends that don't even complain when they have to remove pricetags from over 200 glasses, 60 mugs, 85 cups&saucers, 62 soup bowls, 60 plates and lots of other tableware.

You guys are the best! We promise we will never do it again ;)

wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-5wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-8wedding in the woods - making of - inspire styling-11Of course Stefan and I were very optimistic about going home on time the day before, to get some good night's sleep.. but we stayed with our friends and helped setting everything up untill 23h. Oops. And because of the tension, a fever and to do lists running around in my head I didn't sleep at all that night! I felt like I could spend that entire Saturday morning crying, just because I was so tired and emotional. I lost my voice too, because of a flu the week before, so I felt like a total wreck on the morning of our BIG DAY! No pressure..

When our best man picked me up at my hairdresser and he and his girlfriend just said 'wow', smiled at me and gave me a big hug, I started to feel a lot better. And it was kind of nice to drive to our location together, playing music and talking about all kind of things. Once there, I locked myself in my best friends room to write my vows and avoid walking into Stefan before our first look! I was so nervous to see my man, I still get butterflies in my stomach when I think of that moment.. Ha, well I'm giving away way too much.. so a big fat TO BE CONTINUED on this one!

something old, something new...

proposal in the sand - Inspire Styling journalA little Google-translate for the non-Dutch readers: 'Trouwen?' means 'Marry?'... :) Of course I said YES to my amazing Stefan. The sneaky guy surprised me with his proposal during our weekend at a beach-house. The weekend itself already was a surprise for our 7 year anniversary. He asked me on June 29th (our 7 year and 1 day anniversary), six months after he bought a vintage ring (something old!)

He searched untill he found the perfect ring, the perfect ring box and waited for the perfect moment to ask me. What a man.. :) ♥ engaged - Inspire Styling journaltoast at sunset - Inspire Styling journalbeach sunset - Inspire Styling journalengagement ring - Inspire Styling journalevening bliss - Inspire Styling journalengagement weekend - Inspire Styling journal Isn't the ring amazing? He knows me so well... and the antique ringbox from Edinburgh is a great find too! Can I use the word 'perfect' again? ;)

I am happier then ever with my boyfriend (no wait... fiancé!) and big love of my life Stefan! Over the moon happy that is!! And no, I will not say "I can't wait to marry him!", because I CAN wait and we will enjoy every second our engagement.. it's a once in a lifetime thing!

How's that for an update? :)

Love, Anne ♥
